4. Beaches
Sintra's irregular coastline harbours many beautiful beaches. Some of these are very difficult to reach, due to the cliffs surrounding them, therefore still existing in a wild and pristine condition. Other beaches are well known for great extensions of golden colored sand. Adraga's beach is one of the examples. Come and explore them all. They are: Magoito, Samarra, Aguda, Praia das Maçãs, Praia Grande, Praia Pequena, Taboeira, Grota, S. Julião, Adraga, Ursa and Aroeira.

The Quinta doesn't have a tennis court of its own. However should you wish to play tennis during your stay there are many Sport Centres and Tennis Clubs available we can recommend, in the close proximity of the Quinta.

Some of the beaches in Sintra are well recognized by surfers, body boarders and wind surfers throughout the country. Yearly International contests and Championships take place in the beaches of Sintra (Praia Grande), Cascais (Guincho) and Ericeira (Ribeira D'Ilhas).

Within 30 minutes from the Quinta you may visit many other interesting places, like Mafra (and its magnificent Palace), the fishing village Ericeira (and its restaurants and beaches); the coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril are only 20 km away.

While staying in Sintra, it's possible to visit other special and characteristic places, like Óbidos and Évora. Both of these places can be reached by highways in around 1 hour from Sintra.

13. Visiting Lisbon
The capital city, Lisbon, may be visited from Quinta Verde Sintra easily, without traffic and parking troubles - the Sintra train system. Both train stations in Sintra, namely "Sintra" and "Portela de Sintra", are only 5 km away from Quinta Verde and are served by inexpensive parking. Trains leave Sintra every 8 minutes and take 35 minutes to reach the centre of Lisbon, namely Rossio Square. From Rossio one may reach the historical quarters by foot.
